Engage ME (Multicultural Engineers)

Engage ME is a program in the Office of Student Development and Success focused on helping the recruiting, retention, and graduation of underrepresented minority students within the College of Engineering. The target populations are Black, Hispanic, and Native American students in an effort to improve their representation within the college's student body. The program has and plans to offer outreach to middle and high school students in the underrepresented community, peer mentoring, professional mentoring (with currently practicing engineers and construction managers), and events such as guest speakers, panels, and site visits to engineering/technical focused locations. The two goals are to increase the percentage of underrepresented students in the college (recruiting and retention) and increase the standing of those who graduate (better GPAs on average and better employment opportunities). The evaluation methods include data pulls each school year regarding admits, current college demographics, and graduate surveys. We include event surveys for student participants and professional/alumni participant surveys.
