Social Work Field Office Intern

August 15, 2020
The purpose of this initiative is to introduce students from all backgrounds to academia, social work, and community-based work. Additionally, this initiative recruits social work students from other programs and enhances our partnerships with other NC schools. Undergraduate and graduate students engage in a credit-based internship with the field office with the goal of meeting social work competencies and are supported with weekly supervision and mentoring. Within the internship, students are exposed to diversity efforts within the unit, policy creation and advocacy, and opportunities for professional development. This initiative is evaluated by the students and professors from partnering schools in their assessment of the student meeting competencies. Additionally, an article will be publish this year reflecting on the process for other field educators to consider creating a similar program.
