Service on a Peer-Reviewed Journal focused on “health care for the poor and underserved” published by Meharry Medical College (historically black medical school): Associate Editor (from July 2021); Long-term service on the Editorial Board Volunteer Service: Serve on the Patient Advisory Board of Elizabeth Family Medicine (Atrium Health), a largely Medicaid & low-income primary care practice; Authored a white paper questioning the wisdom and ethics of a large-scale clinical trial run by Duke Medical School that involved giving healthy, non-statin-needing patients statins for 5 years to see if statins could provide protection against Alzheimer’s. Elderly/Gerontological & Chronically Ill Activities: 2022: Member, Patient and Caregiver Advisory Committee for PECORI Grant Application by the University of Pennsylvania Medical School to CMS, DHHS, December 2020 & January 2022 (grant to investigate the best way to deliver pain relief to chronically ill & disabled individuals, many of whom are elderly & at end-of-life) 2019 Peer-Reviewed journal article on Social Security Solvency (seeking fairness) (with Zachary Mohr of Political Science and Public Administration)
