Strategic Goals

Goal 2.1. Develop opportunities for ongoing civil discourse and activity that is intentionally designed to bring students and employees together to learn and share in a cross-cultural and cross-generational understanding of diverse perspectives and experiences.

Goal 2.2. Create opportunities to recognize, celebrate and award students, employees, and alumni–as individuals and teams–who advance inclusive excellence at UNC Charlotte and in our surrounding communities.

Goal 2.3. Develop and conduct an institution-wide campus climate survey for students and employees every three years to identify room for continuous improvement, identifying historical and current institutional barriers–including potentials for marginalization.

Goal 2.4. Survey and analyze reasons behind attrition rates among historically underrepresented and/or minoritized students and employees at UNC Charlotte to explore emerging trends and adopt recommendations to improve climate, persistence, retention and identified factors of success.

Goal 2.5. Create and implement strategies to improve retention and sense of belonging among historically underrepresented and/or minoritized students and employees by developing, expanding, and supporting  identity-based belonging groups and mentoring initiatives.

Goal 2.6. Develop and promote educational opportunities, institutional resources, training and workshops for students and employees to foster personalized lifelong learning toward self-reflection, cultural awareness and cross-cultural engagement; and inform all members of the campus community of their rights, responsibilities, and processes as it relates to requesting accommodations and addressing harassment, discrimination, and bias incidents.
