Computer Science Research and Underrepresented Support

November 1, 2021
The objective of this program is to form a community that increases the pursuit of computing research by black students. To facilitate increasing the number of students, interested in, and equipped to pursue computing research we have 5 objectives grounded in activities that lead to the recruitment and retention of underrepresented minority graduate students in computing: -Expose students to Computing Research opportunities -Encourage students to participate in Capstone or REU experiences -Mentor students in the preparation of graduate school applications -Create accessible digital resources to support a community of practice for recruiting, mentoring and training black students pursuing graduate degrees -Build a pipeline between non PhD granting MSIs and PhD granting institutions This program will be evaluated through assessments, surveys, and focus groups. An external evaluator will lead this initiative.
