UNC Charlotte Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence

July 24, 2019
Joshua Miller is a co-principal investigator for an award from the Office of Director of National Intelligence. This award is a collaboration with three HBCUs--Johnson C. Smith University, South Carolina State University, and Winston-Salem State University. The $1.5 million award, which began in 2019 and ends in 2024, creates an Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence. A goal of the Center is to create pathways for students from our four collaborating institutions to gain educational and experiential opportunities that would allow them to pursue career opportunities in foreign policy, national security, and intelligence. We are especially keen to encourage students from backgrounds that are not well represented in these career paths, including under-represented minorities, those from rural backgrounds, and first-generation college students. This includes a Minor in Security and Intelligence Studies open to students from any major, support for internships, research experiences, and study abroad opportunities.
