April 19th Myths +Misconceptions: The Erased Reality of Asian America

In a 45-60 minute interactive workshop, rapper/activist jason chu helps attendees explore Asian American history: its systemic erasure from popular culture and history books, and the reality of 170+ years of Asian American communities, cultures, social activism, and civic participation. The audience will gain a working familiarity with concepts like the “Black/White Racial Binary”, the “Model Minority Myth”, “Yellow Peril”, and the diversity of the Asian American community, including East/Southeast/South Asians, multiracial individuals, and adoptees.
