Equity Collaborative

September 1, 2020

Our program has created an Equity Collaborative designed to continuously examine the conceptual framework, practices, and products of the Early Educator Support Office. The Equity Collaborative, a diverse representation of our own staff, strive to ensure each are developed and carried out through a lens highly attuned to inclusivity, equity, and diversity. Results of our program's annual interrater reliability exercise, as well as ongoing needs assessment of our staff, continue to inform our model of continuous improvement. As we have engaged in guided inquiry during regional team meetings, self-selected book study groups, communities of practice, etc., related to systemic inequalities we have fostered growth and promoted trust across our team. Two members of the collaborative are also leading the field as facilitators of the NC Association for the Education of Young Children's (NCaeyc) two year long Equity in Early Childhood Circles. As an ongoing method of program evaluation and continuous improvement, the staff and early childhood educators served by our program are surveyed on an annual basis. Feedback from the annual surveys provide us the opportunity reflect on the individualized and strengths-based support services (i.e., mentoring/evaluation/coaching) we strive to provide to early childhood educators.
